How Long Can You Drive on a Spare Tire?

When a tire is damaged, it is generally not a good idea to drive on it. While some newer ones are designed to last for 55 miles or more while flat, you still want to get the problem resolved as soon as possible. In the meantime, drivers can generally choose to put a compact or full-size tire on their vehicle.

Compact tires are generally used in smaller vehicles to save space. They may also be used in larger vehicles if the designer favors more room as opposed to convenience in the event of an emergency. However, drivers may buy an extra matching tire if they desire.

Vehicles with compact tires should be driven to a service center right away. While at Audi South Coast in Santa Ana, CA, it may be possible to either fix the damaged tire or put a new one on the car in a timely manner.
